About Clarinets by Copeland
From high-end repairs to handcrafted clarinets—crafted by a player, trusted by pros.
Clarinetist/Repair Specialist
Founder of Clarinets by Copeland
As a lifelong clarinetist, Jonathan Copeland has seen how hard it can be to find an instrument that plays the way it should—especially at an accessible price. Buying new doesn’t always mean getting quality craftsmanship, and too often, players are held back by instruments that simply don’t live up to their potential.
That’s why he started Clarinets by Copeland: to offer hand-selected, professionally restored clarinets that play better than new—and now, to provide the same level of precision and care through professional repair services. Every clarinet he sells or services is brought to life on his bench, with the knowledge and attention that only comes from someone who knows how a clarinet should truly feel and respond.
He holds a Bachelor and Master of Music in Clarinet Performance from Middle Tennessee State University and spent 9 years as a clarinet repair specialist at Onks Woodwind Specialists before launching his own full-time shop. What began as a passion for matching players with great instruments has grown into a complete clarinet workshop—offering premium repairs, curated pre-owned models, and his own line of high-quality clarinets.

Jillissa Anderson
At home, Jillissa Anderson is a wife and mom to three young children—keeing her busy with managing and peace-making on a daily basis. She has been playing clarinet since elementary school, and the impact of private lessons during her early years sparked her desire to pursue music as a career. Humorously. Jillissa first asked to play the clarinet when she mixed up an oboe for a clarinet. Outside of her work, she enjoys gardening, is an avid baker, and is especially known for her specialty cheesecakes.
Jillissa’s career as a clarinetist, educator, and entrepreneur reflects her passion for building relationships through performance, pedagogy, and community focused leadership. She directs Tri-State Ensembles in the Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky area, performs with local symphonic and chamber groups, and devotes much of her teaching to high school clarinetists.
Her work also extends into leadership and writing, from publishing articles in School Band and Orchestra magazine to teaching masterclasses at highschools and universities. She wrote the curriculum for an instrument sales training program that blends pedagogy with practical tools for clarinetists and has previously led a diverse national team of musicians and educators. Passionate about helping clarinetists not only find the right equipment but also connect with their community professionally, she was drawn to Clarinets by Copeland for its unique community presence and dedication to excellence. I received a recommendation from a colleague to try Copeland clarinets and I'm thrilled to have a new go-to for all my repair needs. Upon completion of a complete overhaul to my clarinet, I was so thrilled by their superior workmanship and customer service that I immediately sent in my A clarinet. Now my 25+ year old clarinet looks and plays like brand new! I can't wait to add their own clarinet brand to my collection. nikki mattesonSeptember 6, 2024Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. 100% recommend Clarinets by Copeland! We purchased the Bb Willow and Eb Harmonia and both are truly amazing instruments. The Willow is easily the most beautiful sounding and looking clarinet. We never would have been able to purchase without the Copeland's price point. And Jonathon and Ashley are seriously the best! We are so thankful for our wonderful experience and will be lifelong fans! Randy Kathy VernamSeptember 4, 2024Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Jonathan has maintained all my clarinets since before he opened his business. I have several instruments I’ve bought from him and have trusted him with consignment sales. I can’t recommend him high enough! If you need a quality instrument at a price you can afford, talk to him. If you have an issue with your clarinet, he can fix it. If you need a good bell or barrel to improve what you have, he’s your guy! If you just need some advice on your instrument, he’ll be glad to give it. Jose Carlos RodriguezMay 27, 2020Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. It is a joy to receive my clarinets back from Mr. Copeland! He is a pleasure to work with and kept me updated while working on my instruments. I highly recommend him. The tension on the keys is perfect, no loud key clicks, fixed bended keys and many other things. The instruments also look a lot better physically . It is my second year as a returning client and will be seeing him again next year. Troy CutchensMay 14, 2020Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. My son just got his Yamaha Advantage back from Jonathan after an instrument evaluation and repad. We were referred to Clarinets by Copeland from his Tudor and as it turned out, after some discussion, we actually met and talked with Jonathan last year at a Clarinet day event and were super impressed with his knowledge and evident passion for clarinets. In short my sons instrument is playing better now than it ever has. His process is fast and efficient, and like he says the instrument came back to us better than new. We will definitely be using him exclusively now for any and all service. Thanks again Jonathan.
