Artist Marilyn Farias

Marilyn K. Farias, clarinetist, performs a broad range of repertoire, with a particular focus on contemporary music. She is from rural south-central Wisconsin, but currently resides in Jersey City, New Jersey, pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Clarinet Performance at Rutgers University. She obtained a Master’s Degree in Clarinet Performance from New York University (2025), and her Bachelor’s Degree, double majoring in Clarinet Performance and Spanish, from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater (2023).

Marilyn has performed in world-renowned venues including Carnegie Hall and the DiMenna Center. She has premiered hundreds of new works, often collaborating as both a guest artist and recording artist for the student composers at New York University. In 2025, she won First Prize in the John-Philippe Rameau International Music Competition.

She has been an active performer across New York City, participating in the Carnegie Hall Screen Scoring series with performances of Der Golem (2024) and Wara Wara (2025), as well as the Ukrainian Music Festival (2024/2025), and PhysFest (2026). She can be heard in numerous recordings, including The Journey by Lenny White (2023), l’origine du monde by Hughes Dufort (2023), Clarinet Quintet by Caleb J. Both (2024), Dimension Intervention by Theodore Vidal (2025), and Lift Up Thine Ears by Michael Daugherty (2025). She currently maintains a private teaching studio, serves on faculty of NYMA Academy, performs in Rutgers Ensembles, and is a clarinetist in Collegium Musicum New York.
