Artist Daniel Lochrie

Daniel Lochrie plays clarinet and bass clarinet in the Nashville Symphony and teaches at Belmont University. In addition to playing clarinet and bass clarinet recitals throughout the U.S., Dr. Lochrie has been associated with summer festivals in Colorado, Ohio, Italy, and Hungary. He is an active chamber and recording studio musician. A founding member of the award-winning Eastwood Ensemble, he has also performed in new music chamber performances for Belmont faculty and the Nashville Ballet.

Dr. Lochrie has additionally been active as a composer and arranger. He studied composition at the Cleveland Institute and the Ohio State University. His works and arrangements have been played by the Nashville Symphony, the Pacific Symphony, the Nashville Symphony Woodwind Quintet, and various clarinet ensembles. His humorous clarinet quartet, Excerpt Mania! has been a favorite at clarinet conferences. His solo and chamber works include Corridors, for clarinet and piano, Phantasms, for clarinet, cello, and piano, and Garden Intruder for solo bass clarinet.

Dr. Lochrie received degrees from The University of Michigan, the Cleveland Institute of Music, and The Ohio State University, where he was the Teaching Assistant to James Pyne. Other teachers included Paul Schaller, Brian Schweickhardt, Oliver Green, John Mohler, Franklin Cohen, and Leon Russianoff.
