Buffet Crampon Tradition Bb & A Clarinet
The Buffet Crampon Tradition brings a historic Buffet sound concept into the modern professional clarinet. Inspired by the legendary BC20, the Tradition was developed around a more cylindrical bore design, creating an instrument known for its pure, warm, and centered sound with a direct and natural response.
Rather than following the familiar R13 or RC bore families, the Tradition establishes its own distinct voice within the Buffet Crampon lineup. Its acoustic design encourages a direct vibration and produces a woody tonal character with excellent clarity and balance throughout the registers. The result is an instrument that feels responsive and expressive while maintaining the depth and refinement expected from a professional Buffet clarinet.
Crafted from carefully selected natural, unstained grenadilla wood, the Tradition combines traditional French clarinet making with several modern refinements borrowed from Buffet Crampon’s higher-end Légende. Metal-capped tenonsreinforce the joints, while a low F correction key improves stability in the lower register.
Professional appointments include 19 keys and 6 rings, silver-plated keywork, an E♭ lever, low F correction key, adjustable thumb rest, and GT pads. The instrument is designed at 440/442 Hz and provides the mechanical precision and comfortable feel required for advanced and professional performance.
Available in both Bb and A, the Tradition makes an excellent matched professional pair. The Bb is supplied with 65mm and 66mm barrels, while the A includes 64mm and 65mm barrels, providing additional flexibility in response and pitch.
The Tradition is an exceptional choice for the clarinetist looking for something distinctly different from the traditional R13 or RC experience. Its combination of a centered, woody sound, direct response, tonal purity, and modern refinement gives it a unique place within Buffet Crampon’s professional lineup.
